Have I mentioned that temperatures have hovered over 0/32 for a week? And how nice this is, so moderate, so easy to live with. It isn’t exactly sunny, but I don’t mind. Cloudy skies filter the sun, so we don’t have to see just how weak its rays are right now, barely skimming the top of the buildings...  

Prague was beautiful...cold but beautiful...more to come later...  

I had myself a long weekend during which I saw Slovakia’s answer to Leonard Cohen, read a bit of poetry at Prague’s newest expat open mic, and did a whole lot of shopping and strolling in the centre.  

Hot red wine with cinnamon and clove flavour called “svařák”, markets with small lighten kiosks, where you can get everything from candles to hand made scarf, cold and early night full of little lights – that is typical atmosphere of Prague Christmas time. One of places where you can feel it is Prague Old Town Square (with St. Nicholas Church behind)...  

I made it to Prague, but spent most of my first day in bed with some sort of stomach bug. (Too many sweetbreads, not enough sleep?) I'm staying in a really nice hotel, called the K+K Central. For some reason "good" hotels in Paris always have lovely exteriors, elegant lobbies, and often rather dumpy rooms. Getting to the K+K Central was a breath of fresh air--the room is very nice, done in a modern style with ...  

A recent European conference on intelligent design - held in Prague and ignored by The Times - attracted 700 attendees, and featured leading scientists from Britain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as the United States.  

So I just got back from my local herna* bar and they done did it to me again: drunk. I wasn't thinking I would write another bar piece at the time. Especially since I am not a writer. I'm a photographer, but I've got this weird flirtation with writing. I just want people to know that I'm not another one of...
