If you will ask anybody who have been to Prague, you could be sure, that he or she has visited Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. Those are the most visited Prague attractions. So, that is why I should start with pictures of them. The number one attraction is Prague Castle, so there is the picture of it taken from Hradcasnke ...  

... every building in Prague, as you either know or have heard, is exquisite; attention to detail is paid everywhere. Having survived WWII unscathed and having avoided large-scale redevelopment, its architectural history and evolution is right there to be walked by and gawked at. Here's a view of Hradcany and Northern Mala Strana ...  

Deer Moat is a lovely green place near Prague Castle that not so many tourists know about. Tomorrow morning the First Lady Livia Klausova is about to reopen a observation path leading from the Deer Moat to Masaryk’s view point.  

The magic of Prague periphery form 60’s and 70’s of the last century is possible to admire at the picture exhibition called Disappearing Prague (mizející Praha) in Prague City Museum at Florenc.  

There is going to be a fundamental reconstruction of the Charles Bridge, and now you can watch it online, live. At the server of Prague information service (here) it is transmitted by the webcam, placed at the Lesser Town Bridge Tower. The Recostruction is supposed to be finished at 2010.  

The current best tennis player Roger Federer is preparing together with his Swiss colleagues to the Davis Cup matches that will take place in Sazka Arena in Prague from Friday to Sunday. All tickets are already sold out. He devotes his time not only to the training but also exploring Prague.  

Contemporary painter and rector of Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts Jiri Sopko is one of the most respected artists in the Czech Republic.  

Erik Truffaz, one of the most respected European jazz musicians of the present time, will perform in Prague, Palac Akropolis, on Thursday. His music combines experimental jazz with hip hop and drum´n´bass and he is therefore called “Miles Davis of acid jazz”.  

Big fans of Star Trek will meet in the cultural house in Prague-Ladvi on 22nd September 2007. The celebrations of this legendary serial should be even bigger than last year. And what’s more, the fans can look forward to Marina Sirtis, playing one of the main characters in Star Trek – Counsellor Deanna Troi.  

All those who like young wine and good entertainment can visit the 11th Prague’s Vintage Festival that will take place in Havlickovy Sady in Prague on 21st and 22nd September 2007.  

From 11th to 17th September the Chapel of St Anne’s in the St George’s Convent will be closed. Today and tomorrow the National Gallery in Prague will also close the permanent exhibition in the Kinsky Palace in the Old Town Square, as well as the permanent exhibition of medieval art in the St Agnes of Bohemia Convent.  

Now it is black on white. Yesterday the Mayer of Prague Pavel Bem together with the President of the Czech Olympic Team Milan Jirasek signed the official application for organizing the Olympic Game 2016 in Prague.  

Not so many people like to visit quiet galleries, so what about placing the exhibition in the streets of Prague? That was the idea of Zuzana Brikciusova who decided to prepare an exhibition about the first Czechoslovakian president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1850 – 1937) on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his death.  

Festival of Czech indie rock bands will take place in the Parukarka park in Prague on 1 st September. You can spend the whole afternoon there – the bands will play from 1 pm to 10 pm and the admission is free.  

Smoking will be absolutely forbidden in Czech trains since December 2007. Last smokers´ compartments, which are still in some express trains, will be abolished. Czech Railways (Ceske drahy, CD) wish to follow the European trend of restricting smoking in public spaces.  

Compared to public transport in London or Paris, passengers in Prague don´t get enough information about the public transport system. There are no leaflets with maps of metro, for instance, or with tariff rates. Prague Public Transit plans to improve this.  

Imperial Hotel in the centre of Prague (Na Porici Street), a valuable Art Deco building, has been reconstructed. The hotel, built between 1913 and 1914, was closed to the public for tens of years, now it will open again together with the famous café.  

Stummfest is not an ordinary film festival: it presents exclusively black-and-white silent movies, some of them rarely screened, accompanied by music. You can see not just Czech, but also German films from the beginning of cinematography there.  

Catchy rhythms will sound from the “First Prague´s Beach” in Smichov tomorrow. There will be a concert of Gipsy.cz, the popular Czech band, combining hip hop with Romany music and pop. The band will also introduce its new video there.  

Many statues of important personalities, that used to stand in the streets of Prague, have disappeared during the eventful history.However, since 1989, the statues return slowly to their previous places. One of them is the statue of American president Woodrow Wilson, that will stand in front of Prague Main Railway Station again.  

Prague hosts one of the most talented artists from Zimbabwe who is called, at his age of 22, the Michalangelo of Africa. Lovemore Bonjisi came to Prague to present his statues and to create one statue in front of the visitors of Botanical Garden in Prague-Troja.  

In September 2007 Prague will host the international festival of contemporary architecture called Architecture Week 2007. The organizers of this festival want to present the current architecture and living environment to the large public through many attractive activities and presentations. Its other aim is to support further urban development in Prague and to promote Czech architecture.  

Low-budget air carrier Ryanair fly only to Brno’s airport now. Yesterday the representatives of Ryanair confirmed that Ryanair will connect also Prague with Irish capital Dublin from 7th November 2007.  

From today (online sale from tomorrow) you can buy tickets for the tennis game of Davis Cup World Group played in Prague on 21st September – 23rd September. The Czech Republic will play against Switzerland in Sazka Arena (metro station Ceskomoravska).  

Mattoni Night Grand Prix 2007 start at 20:00 and 21:00 on 8th September from the Old Town Square. For the first time in history of runs in the centre of Prague, runners will compete at night when the street of historical Prague will be illuminated just by street lamps.  

‘The Roof of Africa’ (Strecha Afriky) is a new exhibition held in the New Town Hall in Charles Square in Prague. It exhibits photographs made during the expedition called ‘Africa on-line’ to the highest mountain of the continent – Kilimanjaro.  

Three days tasting the best specialities of Prague hotels that were evaluated at the TOP 100 in Mauer’s Grand Restaurant – that’s Prague Food Festival 2007. Every day you can taste delicious meals from twelve Prague restaurants.  

The festival will offer many activities for both children and adults. Visitors can learn how to prepare delicious food and drinks from melons. Among many competitions held at the festival will be competitions in eating melons, cutting them in exact halves, guessing the weight of a melon, throwing a melon skin at a target, running slalom between melons and many others.  

John Mayall, considered by many people to be the king of British blues, will perform in Prague tomorrow. Accompanied with the band The Bluesbreakers, he will introduce his newest album In The Palace Of The King, that was issued on 16th April.  

It will be already the fifth concert of The Rolling Stones in the Czech Republic. All the previous concerts (in 1990, 1995, 1998 and 2003) were held in Prague. Their first concert in the Czech Republic took place in Prague stadium Strahov. The concert was not only a great music event but also a symbol of changes in the political system of the country.
