Prague

Mikulas day was good to N. Only one potato! She must have been good this year. We wondered down to the Christmas markets at Namesti Miru for Mikulas celebrations...it's so pretty, but so busy with numerous devils, angels and Mikulas'.  

We experienced our first Thanksgiving meal, with our Colorado friends(both Michele & Brians family and Paul & Chris' family), plates bursting at the seams with turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin, Cranberry chutney and cranberries, beans, carrots, normal stuffing and a cornmeal/blueberry stuffing, I can't...  

Our friends from Colorado - Michele, Brian, Isabel and Will - arrived on Friday night. N was buzzing around all Friday in anticipation, counting down the hours, and greatly disappointed when their flight was delayed 40 minutes, touching down at 6:18pm. After a traditional Czech gulas dinner the kids played...

I went mushroom hunting with my friend Chris, and Chris' mushroom expert friend Zdenka. We drove to a UNESCO protected forest between Prague and Kutna Hora, not far from Mukarov. I'll set the scene.....Absorlutely freezing day - first day of Winter after all and we were looking for a yellowy-brown mushroom...  

N & I went to the ballet last night at the National Theatre. We had front row tickets, $40 each and it was brilliant. The dual role of Odette and Odilia was performed by Tereza Podarilova who is an extroadinary dancer. At break I said to N, "we have just experienced an amazing performance, wasn't she...  

The first official item to leave the apartment.M's u beaut coffee machine !It hasn't been working for last 4 months, couldn't be bothered getting it fixed & getting strung out on top much coffee anyway.No tears,M  

Thanks to Sue Y's encouragement, Nic and Ivy spent a couple of days with us in Prague. We did the number 1 touristy things like Prague castle, St Vitus Cathedral....walked down to Charles Bridge (which was a highlight) and through Old Town Square past the Astronomical Clock. Here they are rubbing the relief...

Back in W for New Years - that's the high level plan.Our W tenants...  

M spent the entire week eating out whilst the Leadership was in town. Long meetings, many late nights & early morning starts really took it's toll this week. J&N did their own thing & it was a public holiday last Thursday in which one of N's friends came over for the day. On the Friday it was a pupil...  

N & J went to the jousting tournament, whilst M lay dying of the flu on the lounge. N's favourite knight from last year was no where to be seen, so she picked a new favourite...the knight in the green.It is the local wine festival celebrating the first wines from this years crop and dates back to medieval...
